RCCI's initiatives in the field of Art and Craft (Culture) focus on two clusters: Newai in Jaipur and Tonk district. These clusters have been identified as areas with significant potential for artistic and cultural growth.
Capacity Building Programmes:
RCCI has organized Capacity Building Programmes to empower artisans and craftsmen in the target clusters, specifically in the area of marketing empowerment. These programmes aim to establish market linkages between artisans and key stakeholders such as ITDC (Indian Tourism Development Corporation), RTDC (Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation), 5-star hotels, heritage hoteliers, tour operators, and travel agents. By facilitating these connections, RCCI enables artisans to showcase their craft to a wider audience and establish sustainable market opportunities.
Culture Live Shows:
In an effort to promote the rich cultural heritage of the region, RCCI has organized Culture Live Shows on June 16, 2007, and June 4, 2008, in Jaipur. These shows provide a platform for artisans and cultural performers to display their talents and engage with audiences. The events serve as opportunities to celebrate the artistic traditions of the region and foster appreciation for the cultural diversity present within it.
Formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs):
As a result of RCCI's initiatives, 12 beneficiaries in the Art and Craft (Culture) sector have formed their own Self-Help Groups (SHGs). These groups play a pivotal role in organizing regular stage performances, showcasing the artistic skills and cultural heritage of the region. The SHGs provide a platform for artisans to collaborate, learn from each other, and collectively contribute to the preservation and promotion of their craft.
Through these initiatives, RCCI aims to support the development and recognition of the Art and Craft (Culture) sector in the target clusters. By providing capacity building programmes, facilitating market linkages, organizing cultural events, and promoting collaboration through SHGs, RCCI strives to empower artisans, preserve traditional craftsmanship, and promote the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Employment Generation and Self-Sufficiency:
RCCI's interventions and support have had a significant impact on the local economy. The establishment of the Aloe Vera processing unit has created employment opportunities for over 700 individuals, encompassing both skilled and unskilled labor. The cultivation and processing activities related to Aloe Vera have enabled these individuals to enhance their income and achieve a path to self-sufficiency.
